Day 56 is here and Happy Birthday Drew!

Poor Pixie is ending this past week with some discomfort.  Not from being a fat puppy-filled sausage with legs and a head sticking out of it but from being a greedy pig!  She scrounged some treats from my car, a loaf of bread and who knows what at the park!  So I've got our potato-turnip-fish concoction going which is a special treat to her.

She has definitely slowed things down.  She does a lot more trotting on runs but she still bounds up the stairs to eat and then flips off of the chair in the living room but she doesn't get as high in the air as normal. She has also enjoyed laying in the sunshine we've had for the past few days. Remarkably, the barking hasn't slowed down.

I can *see* puppies moving now!  I love it!  The whelping box is painted a pale blue and I've been nesting.  The backyard has had all debris taken away and the grass cut, the spare bedroom is put back together (this has absolutely nothing to do with the puppies it just needed done), bathrooms are cleaned and the area where the whelping box is going starting to get emptied out.  The box will be up tonight.  This weekend Drew and I are cleaning the basement (this will be one of the indoor puppy play areas).

 

I keep forgetting to measure her.  She is 26" around as of this am.  Xray this afternoon for a puppy count.  I'm guessing 5.  I will post results when I get them of course.

6 weeks now

So the time is *slowly* ticking by.  She isn't any better about taking the pictures....Bad Girl .  Her eating is consistently a little slow in the am but she still likes the powder goo that she is getting.  We went for a run this am which she enjoyed greatly.  Me remember to bring a camera?  Never!

We're at 5 weeks

She doesn't look that different to me from last week in these pictures.  But I'm also obsessing and now I'm trying to just not look at her. She is broader across the loin and ribs which doesn't show up here.  She is actually fuller around the middle. 

I hate waiting.

Pixie at 4 weeks

More belly shots.  Obviously she is particularly thrilled with the posing - NOT.  It's like pulling teeth!  I suppose it would be easier if I'd just pose her and have someone else take the pictures.  We're at slightly over 4 weeks.  There is definitely thickening of her waist, and her belly has more of a rounding.  It didn't stop her from helping Roady and Rocket out with the rabbit hunting they did yesterday.  5 more weeks to go!

I started her on a supplement that a couple of friends of mine have used.  It's called K9 Puppy Gold http://www.k9power.com/k9_puppy_gold.php  It can be used a formula if pups need supplemented.  It's a powder that smells kind of skunky/skanky/stanky.  She loves it and licks the bowl clean each meal.  Rocket seems to think he should have some as well.  Maybe he's having a sympathy pregnancy .
